Caught the show on Anytime TV today and loved it! I’m a huge fan of P D James and can’t wait to see Mark Billingham.
I adore books and lose myself in bookstores most lunchtimes - the ‘if you like this...’ section is inspired as I’m often wondering what else I could read if I particular book.
Thanks for bringing a show like this to Sky.

Is there any chance of your inviting Marilynne Robinson onto the show?

Hi,
I’d love a printable list of all the books featered in a series. In alphabebetical order by author would be great. Is there a list like this already on the site? If not I think it would be a great idea.
Thanks. Love the show!

Hi Lisa,
The article above now includes links to the episode guides on The Book Show’s website. These guides include all the authors and books mentioned in each episode. Hope that helps!

Good show but would the producer/director please tell Mariella to shut up and let her guests speak. Her convoluted (and attention seeking) questions often require only a “yes” or “no” response. She needs some training in interviewing techniques.

Reading Cure Event
Hi
I thought that The Book Show might be interested in featuring an event we are holding called ‘The Reading Cure’.
I work for The Reader Organisation and we are holding the event in partnership with The Lancet at the Wellcome Trust in January 2009. It will be a public conversation looking at the relation between reading and health.
Speakers will include; Dr Richard Horton (Editor, The Lancet), Jane Davis (Director The Reader Organisation), Blake Morrison (poet, novelist and journalist) and Clare Allan (author) amongst others.
We run 80 outreach reading groups across Merseyside working with people with mental health difficulties or who are in a vulnerable position. We read high quality literature which has something to say about the human condition. For more see http://www.thereader.org.uk.
If you would like to know more about the event or our work please do get in touch on 0151 794 2830 or .
Many thanks,
Katie Atherton

Mariella, ignore comments of 17 Nov. You are a very good interviewer and do not push yourself forward, unlike a certain
Australian male in the same line of business.!
Yours is one of the best shows on TV.

Thank you, Mariella, for a marvellous programme. You always keep everyone under control in the nicest possible way - can’t be easy with the eclectic mixture of writers and their idiosyncrasies.
The authors and books always provide inspiration, interest, or just good cultural entertainment.
Thank you.

A London based photographer has just released the most amazing & beautiful book. He is the first photographer EVER to have photographed all the UNESCO listed natural wonders and he really deserves a slot on your show. You can see details of his book here http://www.jaspaljandu.com. You can his interview here -

and has had positive feedback from David Suchet, June Whitfield, Roy Clarke, Roy Hudd and David Nobbs
...but more publicity greatly assist us!
Kind regards,
Mark

This was my first time watching The Book Club and I certainly enjoyed it immensely but I would like to comment on the introduction piece on your website for the book club competition. The piece refers to Jane Austen’s masterpiece Pride and Prejudice - that is my favourite book of all time and Jane Austen is the author not Emily Bronte. Also was the female guest for the Book Club on today’s programme Jacqueline Wilson?

Hi there! I was wondering if there would be any opportunity to plug my new book called STINGING FILTH AND BLOODY HANDS. I am a playwright based in Kent and I love what I write. The drama is electric and the dialogue is explosive. The characters are emotionally draining and could say it is a tad controversial. Any chance to talk about it? I would love to see it come alive. Please could I have a chance with it? My website is http://www.astingingaffair.com. You will love the new work. Scene one is available online. Enjoy! Hope to hear from you soon.

Would you consider reviewing illustrated books?
I ask because mine, about contemporary watchmakers, is about to be published. While the book has 674 photos it also has 70,000 words. Would some one at the Book Show at least be interested in having a chat on the phone with me about the book?
Kind regards

What about graphic novels? Would you consider interviewing a writer like Alan Moore? After all, graphic novels are huge business and would certainly draw a different audience and some controversy not to mention illustrating The Book Show’s diversity. (Pardon the pun).
Many thanks.

The weekly visit to a bookshop! How about getting “up north”. I live in Southport, Lancashire and it’s a wonderful place for books with three antiquarian shops. Broadhurst’s - the longest established book shop - would be great for a visit.
Love the programme - and Mariella!

Could you interview some agents please. As an aspiring writer, I think it is now harder to get an agent than a publisher.
Many publishers now say that they won’t take submissions other than via an agent so the world needs to see agent and know what they think.
What about an agent spot each week?

A terrific show. Particularly good is “The Write Place”, giving us a look in to the working environment of some of the most interesting and eccentric writers around.
Does anyone know when it will be returning?
