This ballet for Monte Carlo in 2002 by Jean-Christophe Maillot - who won a Nijinsky prize for the choreography - puts some familiar music by Tchaikovsky in a new guise, basing its story on the Charles Perrault fairytale La belle au bois dormant - better known in English as The Sleeping Beauty.
