See TV listings for this programme

Dance for the Camera is a series of unique short dance films, made collaboratively by choreographers and directors and conceived especially for television. This part explores dynamic movement and complex physical relationships.

Director
Brett Turnball

Choreographer
Mark Murphy

Composer
Andrew Cowton

Look out! A male performer hurtles forward through an obstacle course of household furniture that stretches before him in an endless line. Along the way he is interrupted by other performers who draw him into increasingly tangled relationships. Like a series of complex emotional hurdles, these encounters drive the protagonist relentlessly forwards.

The line of furniture is like a series of rooms in which a tightly compressed narrative unfolds, pushing the body to its limits. The camera reveals the dynamic possibilities of the human body in motion, heightening the experience of an intensely physical dance language.
