Gorgeous film about the renaissance of Khmer classical dance that was almost destroyed by Pol Pot

Director
Adrian Maben

Filmed in Cambodia, this film looks at the renaissance of Khmer classical dance after it was almost destroyed by Pol Pot.

Only five teachers - the 'living dictionaries' of this complex movement vocabulary - escaped the Killing Fields. One survivor, Proeung Chhieng, and Princess Norodom Buppha Devi, a former star dancer, have been responsible for setting up a new school and Royal Ballet. The demanding training of the dancers and the ancient traditions of their art are highlighted in this wonderful film.
