This is modern dance at its best: a tender pas de deux in neo-classical style danced by Royal Danish Ballet principals Rose Gad and Nikolaj Hubbe.
Gad's delicate, lyrical quality is exploited to the full and Hubbe is given ample opportunity to show off the technical virtuosity for which Danish dancers, with their Bournonville training, are renowned.
The piece was created by Anna Laerkesen, Denmark's leading contemporary choreographer. She took her inspiration from Bach's keyboard partitas and The Well-tempered Clavier, extracts from which accompany the choreography.
