Documentary profile of French choreographer Roland Petit and his dancer wife Zizi Jeanmaire in rehearsal for the Ballet National de Marseille's staging of Carmen

Roland Petit and Zizi Jeanmaire have had one of the dance world's most enduring and fruitful partnerships and this documentary celebrates the passionate relationship of the brilliant French dancer and her equally brilliant choreographer husband.

Focusing on the septuagenarian couple's hectic work schedule, this biopic sketches their life and half a century of work together, from experimental ballet in post-war Paris to Broadway, Hollywood, the cabaret stage, and beyond. In particular it concentrates on Petit's Carmen.

So why the title, which mentions only one half of the duo, when the programme is about both Petit and Jeanmaire? As Petit explains: "What else could they call a film about us? Zizi is the first thing in my life."
