Sky Arts 1 presents a collection of documentaries examining some of the greatest figures and movements in film history. A month's worth of films...about films!
Spanning a number of decades this series of documentary style movies reveal the obstacles and hardships that face movie-makers across the genres have faced in the past and still do up until present day.
Frank conversations and in-depth investigations take us into the minds of world-renowned actors and directors such as Malcolm McDowell as he speaks of his experiences with certain colleagues.
Directing legend Martin Scorsese reflects on his upbringing and the effect it had on some of his most famous projects, whilst we find out what Kubrick's boxes hold when they are investigated after his death.
Renaissance man Chris Petit and being one of Britains best kept film culture secrets, a stark autobiographical look at the life of Terence Davies, Peter Bogdanovich's extensive profile of director John Ford amongst many other studies and probing examinations of these unique creative minds.
We also get a look into the worlds of perhaps the more un-sung but equally important and artistic contributors to movie-making of the editor, cinemaphotographer and soundtrack composers
This run of exploration films also include a collection dedicated to the ever-boundary defying and expanding subject of 'Sex on the Silver Screen'. The evolution of which from the turn of the 20th century has caused constant controversary and uproar, as the media use the bold new vehicle of the motion picture to exploit and scandalise to the delight of audiences and condemnation of the censors.

It would have been helpful to know the year in which each of these films was made. Only date shown is re-mastering date at end.
