Looking forward to these, especially ‘My Winnipeg’. Hopefully filling a gap in independent/art cinema which has been vacant since Alex Cox was put ot to pasture by the BBC.

There are too many repeated showings (this is true of the channel generally) and not enough new-to-satellite films—or enough classic older non-English language films for that matter.

Pete hit the nail on the head. We should have a Sky Arts movie channel dedicated to showing the best of classic cinema. I honestly can’t remember ever coming across a Bresson, Fellini, Lubitsch, Rossellini, Ophuls, Kurosawa or Carne film on television. These are just some of the names of an endless list of great filmakers who rarely, if ever, get their works shown on television sure we have the rare Ozu(shown on Film4 with adverts), Dreyer and Antonioni but for the price that we pay as sky subscribers we should be getting more. I’m sick and tired of being over exposed to mediocre movies (not on sky Arts) and am 100% sure that a Sky arts movie channel would be the perfect place for showing cinematic masterpieces that embarrassingly haven’t been seen on British television for years.

Will any of these pictures be repeated. I missed Festen cause someone deleted it on Record. I need to see a Dogme film, It’s not too often I come across films like these. Critierion Collection is too expensive for poor students.
