Darbar Festival 2010
Great art reaches to the heart of our spirit and reason to love life and every Easter the Darbar Festival gives people the opportunity to experience some of the finest Indian classical music in the world by exploring the diversity of music from across the sub-continent.
Presenting music throughout the event, the Festival features a rich mix of international maestros, UK artists and new talent performing in Britain for the first time. There are films, talks with the artists and free workshops for children. Also premiered is 'Encounter', an innovative composition bringing together Indian and Western classical vocal traditions.
2010 sees the Festival at its new home, the Kings Place, London’s spectacular new creative centre with an oak panelled auditorium and state-of-the-art acoustic technology
Elsewhere in London, there were musical evenings at St Ethelburga’s Centre for Reconciliation and Peace, and music and a photographic exhibition at the Nehru Centre.
This year there are more than '40' events and outside of London there are events held in Gateshead, Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham, Leicester, Milton Keynes and Cobham.

great to see these concerts, some wonderful music but what happened to the audio-visual synchronization? It comes over as quite amateurish. I can’t imagine such a thing happening for a concerto recording. Shame!

The Veena performance by Rajhesh Vaidhya was a real mess, you could not hear what he was playing. Can you broadcast it again, but with the sound of the main instrument this time please???
