Two words sum this up - eighties and excess!

Duran Duran - Arena: An Absurd Notion on Sky Arts

Duran Duran’s Arena: An Absurd Notion is the band’s first live album from 1984 and their first foray into film. Very much a product of its time, the film combines nomadic futuristic imagery with a big budget but it thankfully manages to avoid the pitfalls of many other bands who have dabbled with movie stardom and created some cringe-worthy productions.

Duran DuranWatch: Duran Duran - Arena: An Absurd Notion

Arena: An Absurd Notion is a gloriously bizarre live concept concert film. Doctor Duran, the evil dictator from Barbarella played by original actor Milo O’Shea, returns to earth from exile confused by the fans’ call for Duran Duran. Crash-landing his ship underneath the stage, he and his three Brummie henchmen are determined to disrupt the show. Despite their attempts to abduct fans and create anarchy the band continue to perform.

Many of Duran Duran’s videos were mined from this film and the band’s live performance is excellent even with the extra spice of Brummie Mad Max –style dwarves. Prepare yourself for the excellent 80s hairstyles too, it’s a mullet mania out there!
