Elvis Presley ‘68 Comeback Special
The King in a triumphant return to stage
Elvis Presley, the undisputed King of rock ’n roll, returned to the stage for the first time in eight years in December 1968 with perhaps the greatest performance of his stellar career, electrifying the screen with 27 of his greatest hits.
The ‘68 Comeback Special was devised by Elvis’ manager Tom Parker who had agreed a Christmas special with the US television network NBC. The plans were elaborate with a large set and big productions around the songs, but the unexpected success of the show were the live segments of Elvis and his band improvising old blues and rock ‘n roll numbers.
