A 13-part series that presents some of the greatest names in today's jazz in concert, rehearsal and interview. Footage from live performances at Montreux Jazz Festival, Banlieues Blues in Paris, and rehearsals from the organised to the informal, is intercut with interviews where the artists talk about their music and influences.

This programme features Red Hot and Rhapsody, whose recent CD reinterpreted Gershwin in an irresistible 1990s way; Terry Callier, whose velvet acoustic guitar and 'folk-jazz' has suddenly found him in huge demand since he 'retired' in 1983 only to now be busier than ever; jazz vocalist Carmen Lundy, who has also acted roles such as Billie Holiday on the stage; and singer- songwriter Vesta, who blends R'n'B and jazz into intense and personal songs.
