Paul Anka may not be a household name in the way that Frank Sinatra and co found fame, but if you're not familiar with him, you'll be surprised at how much of his work you'll know.
This concert, recorded live at the 2005 Montreal Jazz Festival shows him at his best, interacting the audience and introducing a new generation to a voice that has been thrilling audiences for nearly five decades. In it, he sings a selection of his greatest hits, personal interpretations of his compositions made famous by other artists, and selections from his 2005 release, Rock Swings, an album of swing-style covers of popular songs by modern hit makers.
Now 64, the Canadian-born Anka began songwriting at the age of sixteen with material including the 1957 hit, Diana, graduating eventually to writing for Sammy Davis Jr., whose request for his own song resulted in I'm Not Anyone, plus of course, Frank Sinatra's veritable theme song, My Way which was an Anka original.
