Rare Coltrane and Mingus concerts for new DVD series

Rare live footage John Coltrane and Charlie Mingus concerts from Europe in the 1960s are amongst the second series of Jazz Icons DVDs, released by Select Music on 1 October. The new series follows the first Jazz Icons DVD launch 12 months ago where nine titles, including Art Blakely, Thelonious Monk, Ella Fitzgerald and Chet Baker, won critical acclaim for both performance and production qualities.

The new series features a treasure trove of rare concert footage from European concerts and festivals from the late 1950s to the late 1960s, much of it previously unseen, together with rare photographs and detailed liner note booklets by luminaries such as Pat Metheny, Michael Cuscuna and Ashley Kahn. Titles are: John Coltrane Live in 60,61 &65; Charles Mingus Live In 64; Dexter Gordon Live In 63 & 64; Sarah Vaughan Live In 58 &64; Dave Brubeck Live In 64 &66; Wes Montgomery Live In 65; Duke Ellington Live In 58.
