Rufus Wainwright: All I Want

See TV listings for this programme

Intimate documentary in which singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright takes viewers on a brutally honest tour of his life, sex and drug addiction, and his beloved New York.

All I Want explores the rapid rise of the most mercurial talent of the modern music scene, an extraordinary singer and composer of some of the most sophisticated pop music and affecting lyrics of the last thirty years. In the film Rufus Wainwright also talks candidly about the drug problems and familial tensions which have informed his music.

With interviews from family, friends and fellow musicians including Elton John, Sting, Neil Tennant and members of Keane and Scissor Sisters together with live footage from his recent UK tour and exclusive studio performances, All I Want is a treat for fans and an essential introduction for the uninitiated.

All I Want gives a unique insight into an artist at the height of his powers and a snapshot of a star in the ascendant. It features cuts from all four of his albums, Rufus Wainwright, Poses, Want One and Want Two.

Director: George Scott
Producers: Nick de Grunwald and Martin R Smith
